Homemade Air Freshener
My kids love Orbeez water beads, and I get it. These colorful little gems are a fantastic sensory experience and it is fun watching them take shape.

But after they have made a large bowl of them and played with them, they just sorta…sit there. That is when I got to thinking about what to do with Orbeez water beads after you are done with them.

This DIY Essential Oil and Orbeez Air Freshener tutorial is the perfect idea! You can use your Orbeez and your favorite essential oils to make your house smell great. Here is how to get started!

How to Make a DIY Essential Oil and Orbeez Air Freshener

Supplies needed:
– Orbeez or water beads, prepared (you can find water beads here.)
– essential oil of your choice (you can use something like lavender oil, found here)
– small glass or pottery dish

Directions:
1. Begin by preparing your water beads according to package directions. It will take about 24 hours to fully prepare/soak the water beads.

Before you add your beads to water to soak, add 10-12 drops of an essential oil of your choice. This way, the beads will absorb it when they “cook.”

2. Pour the prepared water beads into a clean dish or jar. We used a small dish with lid but you can use any glass or pottery dish you want.

3. Add 10-15 drops of essential oils (of your choice) to the beads. Try to sprinkle the oil evenly over the beads.

4. Stir the mixture gently with a spoon.

5. You will notice right away that the beads will take on the scent of the essential oil Display the beads in a warm but not hot window sill where they will give off the scent!

You can cover with a piece of cardboard or small plate when not in use. This will help it last longer. Enjoy!

Kids could easily handle this craft, and just think of all the different kinds of oil you could use to make your house smell great.

Since these are smaller in size and quite cute to look at, they would be great for bathrooms or office spaces.

Give this DIY Essential Oil and Orbeez Air Freshener tutorial a try! It is a great way to use up those Orbeez water beads after the kids are done with them. When you are done, be sure to check out these other essential oil tutorials we have been working on:
