Oh vintage Christmas décor, why are you so sparkly? You call to me, and I can’t say no. And so every single year I pull out all the stops and make the Hydrangea House glimmer in all of her vintage Christmas-y glory. This blog post won’t be a lot of talking, instead it will be more showy as I show you my favorite vintage inspired holiday decorating ideas. Look, love, be inspired.
So did you know you can turn an old bendy ruler into a star? You can, and this blew my kiddos MINDS. You can find these rulers at most antique or thrift shops, and you can bend them into all sorts of shapes. Star light, star bright, dang you are cute.

In the dining room there are all sorts of vintage and even thrifted or rescued from the curb finds. Those windows? Curb find. That fur throw? Thrift store. I do love me some bottle brush trees, and I was able to find a ton of vintage inspired ones (the real deals are pricey, guys, buy them if you find them cheap!) to use for this display. If you find trees but don’t like the color, check out my tutorial on how to bleach bottle brush trees.

In this room it is all about keeping things cozy. Just because it is a dining room doesn’t mean it needs to be formal. W use lots of layers of wood, old silver, pottery, and even pinecones from outside to make it warm. Oh, and that little gold frame holds my parents wedding invitation!

Also in the dining room I added vintage inspired pillows to the chairs. This kitschy deer pillowcase was a gift from my sister in law and I LOVE IT. You can find these and other vintage inspired pillowcases here!

The pillow below was made from an old feedsack and courtesy of my dad’s wife. Pretty cute, huh? If you see less than perfect vintage fabrics, give this idea a try.

The old ornaments are one of my favorite ways to add vintage to our holiday decorating. I stuff them in jars, hang them on trees, and even make wreaths out of them. If you see these beauties BUY THEM. You can use them in so many ways! If you are in a hurry to snag some, you can buy Kurt Adler reproduction ornaments here.

Everything can be used as a decoration. Somehow. Some way. These little red boots belonged to me when I was little, and now they sit alongside my old Santa collection.

You know all those little vintage Christmas treasures you find all through the year? The tiny cardboard houses, little elves, old ornaments and brush trees? Even if they aren’t in the best of shape, you can use them in a wreath. This is a cute way to display these old beauties. Just find a faux wreath and start gluing.

Another way I like to display small Christmas finds is in waterless snowglobes. For these I take thrift store jars and add some sugar. Then, I just place the findings right inside.

If you like this idea, you can see how I used the waterless snowglobes to create a vintage inspired Christmas tablescape. See my full tutorial and enjoy more photos here.

Last but not least, a home isn’t in the vintage Christmas mood without an Elf on the Shelf. These little throwbacks are gaining in popularity again, and they are just as cute as ever. See some creative ways to display your Elf on a Shelf here!

Thanks for stopping by, friends. I hope you find ways to add some vintage charm to your space this holiday season. These pieces add nostalgia, that is for sure! Merry everything!
